Description
Congratulations on your acceptance to South Georgia State College! Now that you're a Hawk, you're ready for the next step.
This SOAR (Student Orientation, Advisement, and Registration) is intended for residential students (living on campus) and athletes seeking to attend the Douglas campus. If you are attending one of our other campuses, are not an athlete or residential student, please register for a SOAR geared towards your campus of choice.
Questions & Answers
No, if you're not able to stay overnight, we understand. However, it is important to participate in the events scheduled for the first day (Thursday) because you'll be receiving important information.
Students will be provided with a room in one of our suite-style residence halls. Be sure to bring your own linens (e.g., bed sheet/comforter (twin size), bath cloth, towel).
You can bring up to 4 guests, but please be mindful that guests cannot stay in the residence halls with the student.
No, guests will need to ensure they have secured off campus housing. The Douglas area has several hotel options.
Activities are scheduled from 4pm-9pm.
Please note: this schedule is tentative and subject to change.
There will be events and sessions throughout the afternoon/evening where you'll be provided with information regarding student resources, have the opportunity to meet with faculty and staff, participate in fun activities, and interact with other incoming students.
Dinner will be provided Thursday evening, as well as a light breakfast Friday morning before departure. But, you are welcome to bring your own snacks if you'd like.
